About Me

I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor based near Dunmow, Essex, using an Integrative Model of Counselling to help individuals address a wide variety of issues.

My aim is to help you live your life more resourcefully with greater satisfaction, peace and happiness.

What to Expect

I welcome individuals seeking help or support and aim to provide a service to match your needs. Everyone has times in their lives when they can become overwhelmed by events resulting in unhappiness or distress. This often occurs at times of change or loss when problems can get out of control. My supportive approach tailor makes a service for your unique issues.

I build in assessments and reviews to ensure I provide as few or as many sessions as you need to help you overcome difficulties and move forward. For those with complex or deep issues: I offer sensitive, supportive counselling/psychotherapy over a longer period of time.

My Experience & Qualifications

Over the past 23 years I have developed an effective style of workplace counselling involving time-limited therapy for employees bringing a wide range of issues including critical incidents.  I have been in private practice for 16 years offering both short and long term counselling/psychotherapy and I also provided a service in Primary Care for seven years. Until recently I was a part-time lecturer in Further Education running one year Counselling Skills Courses for mature students. Other experience includes supporting children and young people with moderate learning difficulties in special schools.

My studies at the University of Southampton led to my graduation with a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours Degree in Counselling. My Integrative approach based on Petruska Clarkson’s relationship model pays attention to the quality and development of the relationship between the client and myself. I draw upon a range of models to benefit the individual with an empathetic emphasis including Psychodynamic Principles, Rogerian Core Conditions and a Person Centred Approach and include CBT and Solution Focused techniques where appropriate.

I am a qualified Supervisor and my Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies (Counselling Supervision) was awarded by the University of Southampton.

I am committed to ongoing Professional Development as indicated by my MBACP (Senior Accredited) Status. This undertaking also includes promoting equal opportunity and respect for individuality.

I follow the guidelines of the Ethical Framework for Good Practice of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am subject to its Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have Professional Indemnity Insurance in place and Data Protection Registration as a data controller.
